 Musk is the founder and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors. He is a billionaire entrepreneur and investor who was born in South Africa in 1971. In 2002, he co-founded X.com, an online payment system for small businesses. After its acquisition by eBay Inc., he became a vice president at PayPal where he worked until 2004. He then founded SpaceX in 2002, which designs and manufactures rockets and spacecraft. His company's goal is to reduce the cost of space travel and make it possible for people around the world to live aboard space stations. In 2008, he started Tesla Motors, an electric car manufacturer based in Palo Alto, California.

 In 2016, Elon Musk's net worth was estimated at $10 billion dollars. He has been ranked 12 on the Forbes list of richest people in the world. His net worth includes his stake in SpaceX, Tesla, SolarCity, and other companies.

 Musk dropped out of Stanford University after just two years but he did not go down without a fight. He started a company called Zip2 while still a student. In 1999, he founded X.com (later renamed PayPal) where he worked until 2002. In 2004, he co-founded SpaceX. In addition to his work in the technology industry, Musk is involved in renewable energy.
