What is Litecoin

Litcoin (LTC) is an open-source cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee, former Google employee, who previously worked at Coinbase. It was launched on October 31, 2013. Litecoin aims to solve some of the problems Bitcoin encountered in its early years by reducing transaction fees and increasing scalability. The name “lite” comes from the fact that the block size limit is only 1MB compared to Bitcoin's 8MB. This makes transactions faster and cheaper than those using Bitcoin. In 2017, the value of LTC rose to $0.37 per coin, then fell back down to $0.30. In 2018, the price increased again to $0.50.

 Who invented Litecoin?

Charlie Lee claims that he invented Litecoin. However, many believe that he stole the idea from Nick Szabo, who developed Bit Gold in 2004. Szabo claimed that he came up with the idea before Charlie Lee, and even released a paper on the subject.

 When did Litecoin start?

Charlie Lee started working on Litecoin in 2011 while he was employed at Google. He later left the company after his contract ran out, and decided to continue developing Litecoin full time.

 Where is Litecoin mined?

Litecoin is mined around the world. China currently dominates the industry, accounting for over half of the total supply of Litecoins. Other countries where the currency is mined include Japan, Iceland, Canada, Australia, and Russia.

 How does it work?

The mining process of Litecoin works differently than that of Bitcoin. Instead of solving complex equations, miners mine for blocks of LTC by verifying transactions. Miners receive bitcoins for their efforts, and these are awarded based on how fast they verify transactions.

What is the difference between Litecoin and Bitcoin?

Bitcoin and Litecoin both use blockchain technology to create decentralized currencies. Both cryptocurrencies have similar features, including anonymity, decentralization, and security.
